Hope in Hamilton Update

Everything is ready except the final landlord’s consent; Local MSP, Christine McKelvie is interested and has written a letter of support.

Various

  • Autism Motherwell- focus on adults- training opportunities eg pilots, train drivers
  • Caroline- Newton station access is currently dangerous for cyclists and pedestrians. Paths for all, South Lanarkshire council and Scotrail are in discussion about the issue.
  • Alex Bray-there are funds remaining in the current budget for CRPs, but uncertain about the situation for next year.
  • John Wilson-there are still project funds available for CRPs until April 23
  • Eugenie- Grow 73- 16 partners involved in Greening Camglen. Collaboration makes funding applications easier. LEAP is involved in the anti-poverty network as food bank use has increased by 25-30% as there is increased demand from people in jobs. Need for more local growing to grow food for the local community. As horticultural colleges seem to be closing down, Grow 73 could get involved/help with school leavers. Rutherglen station mural has been touched up by art students. It is gratifying to note that it has never been vandalised.

Next meeting: 21/02/23 @2.30pm @ LEAP café, Cambuslang
