Update on Development Day Suggestions
- Nature at Newton / wildlife applying for funding from Cross Country.
- Young Scot Campaign / Suzie will speak to CEO of YoungScot to raise awareness.
- Days Out Project – using other CRPs examples through CRN and group suggestions create a project plan to include tourism support from ScotRail/Visit Lanarkshire.
- Link in with Rutherglen 900 Facebook group & committee

James Ledgerwood — Scotrail
Update on active travel theme projects from ScotRail, Recent partnership with Age Scotland as charity for Scotrail,250 adopted stations over Scotland and over 1000 volunteers, Keen to see other projects as budget still available for CRPS in Scotland
Arlene Dickson — Samaritans
Happy to report network rail tender was successful for next couple of years, World suicide prevention month in September, Glasgow central station – Monday 9th Sept 10 – 3pm conversation cafes on trains through chaplain and stall on station platform all day (looking for volunteers), Potential to install breathing space bench along the line if suitable space. (maybe Rutherglen or newton)
Alex Bray — Cross Country
Continuing with community engagement fund, Happy to link up with Waverley station potentially to offer volunteer an experience day to help work search on railways.
Diane/Kieran Wyse — Scottish Autistic Consultants
Just completed phase 2 of travelling classrooms 120 attendees (great feedback and another 50 people wrap up trip to be arranged), spoke about immersion room potential at Motherwell not far from station.
Fraser Hamilton — Volunteer Rail 74
Idea to potential link theatre groups in the area, possibly story telling Rutherglen 900 history in some way. Scope out for funding and further detail to make it come alive along the line.

Engaging with other CRPS over Scotland and UK to understand what we could replicate in our area and building relationships.
Development Officer update
- Glad to see hope in Hamilton in Hamilton installed — into 2025 look at phase 2 community updates
- Sound like a volunteer – QR code created, podcasts complete and delivered & celebrated launch at Eastfield community growers Centre, all plaques ready and need to be delivered & get volunteers together, website all update to also include friends of newton station greenspace, look to go on train and give out flyers to hope fully direct new volunteers locally and for community rail.
- Award for collaboration submitted for Rail74 CRP for Vaslan Local Third Sector Awards and 2 submissions for Scotrail in the Community Awards in Nov 2024.
- Transport Scotland visited Rutherglen station – showcased the mural and suggested improvements that we could help to attract more passengers.

- Volunteers required for Samaritains/Conversations Café on train Monday 9th Sept meet at 10.15am on central station concourse.
